Dermabrasion and Scar Revision

There are many scars, especially on the face, that warrant special attention from a facial plastic surgeon. Scars can be improved by a variety of techniques. Dermabrasion (surgical sanding) of small surface areas is used to smooth skin roughened by scars from acne or from injury.

Scars cannot be completely erased, but the surface can be leveled to minimize shadowing and to achieve an overall smoother appearance. Initial healing takes 7-10 days followed by a period of redness.

Dermabrasion and scar revision are most often done under local anesthesia.

Bel-Red Center for Aesthetic Surgery has provided Plastic Cosmetic Surgery, Non-Surgical and Reconstructive procedures to satisfied patients in Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond, Renton, Woodinville and other Greater Seattle / Eastside Washington locations.
