Leg Spider Vein Sclerotherapy Treatment

Many women are bothered by small red and blue spider blood vessels on thighs and the entire lower extremities. If not associated with the large, bulging and painful varicose veins, these small vessels can be diminished or eliminated by injections of small amounts of sclerosing solution delivered through tiny needles. In general, sclerotherapy for small spider veins is more effective and comfortable than laser-assisted methods.

While several formulations of sclerosing solutions are available, Dr. Zemplenyi treats spider veins with a safe, proven compound which causes very few side-effects and complications. However, patients need to know that several monthly sessions are often required for elimination of spider veins. The lower along the leg these veins are located the more resistant they are to treatment and thus requiring more treatments. Temporary brown skin discoloration may occur at the injection sites. Compression of the treated areas with medical grade hosiery and avoidance of heavy exercise are recommended for several days following each sclerotherapy session.
